About Callum:

Callum Robertson has a background in the justice system. He has worked as a Legal Advisor for Coram Children's Legal Centre, as a Ministry of Justice Civil Servant and most recently for a Human Rights organisation.

He has also written and commentated heavily on justice matters. These range from the use of community resolution orders in relation to Stansted Airport in Uttlesford, being a co-author of the book United Against Crime and focussing on regulation of the gig economy.

He believes in education as the ultimate tool in the crime prevention field, which is why he campaigned strongly against closures of libraries by Essex County Council.

Callum's priorities for Essex:

  • Adopt a non-prosecution policy for personal drug use in the next crime plan. This will free up thousands of hours of police time which I want to see reinvested into tackling domestic violence
  • Increasing the numbers of PCSOs, PCs and Special Constables in towns and villages across Essex. This will help people feel safe and restore community policing
  • He has already begun creating a Hate Crime Commission made up of community leaders to tackle rising crimes against minority communities. If elected, he plans to use this group as an advisory panel to help build bridges between the Police and different communities.
